Description

Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, occasionally referred to as Flushing Meadows Park, is located in northern Queens, New York City, USA, roughly at the intersection of the Long Island Expressway and the Grand Central Parkway. It is the second largest public park in the City of New York and was created as the site of the 1939/1940 New York World's Fair and also hosted the 1964/1965 New York World's Fair. [1]

Huge park with 1,255 acres of athletic fields, landscaped meadows, lakes, fountains, playgrounds, stadia (including Shea Stadium), museums (The New York Hall of Science and The Queens Museum of Art) and a zoo. It has boating, baseball fields and open fields ideal for picnics.

Tips

  • There's a Bike & Boat Rental.
  • Boating (possibly biking) available only in the summer.
  • There is also a great pitch-and-putt mini golf course there. It's a bit pricey ($15.50 for two people) but worth it. It's a little hard to find.
  • If it's a hot day then you might want to bring along water bottles.

It will be appreciated.

  • You can't drive around the entire park.

When you come in through the entrance from the Van Wyck or from Jewel Ave, then you can go halfway around until you get to the exit. The exit takes you onto the Greand Central Parkway.

Directions

Jewel Ave exit off the Grand Central Parkway or Van Wyck Expressway.
