Description
The former Holiday Inn JFK now called the Hilton JFK is a good lounge for those who do not want to spend a lot of money. It has two areas of interest: the lounge and the business center. The lounge is immediately to the left. It's large and contains comfortable chairs and couches. There are two TVs, one on either end of the lounge. They can be loud and distracting. There is a bar adjacent to the lounge with drinks for $2.50.
The business center is small and casual. It is about 30 feet past the main entrance, to the left. It contains some drink dispensers at $2.00 for a 20-ounce bottle.
Tips
- Don't confuse this place with either of the two Hilton Garden Inn's in the area.
- Free parking. If the lot is full there's plenty of street parking.
- There is a cafe as well as a mini market where you can buy drinks.
- Save money by buying drinks at the machines. You'll look like a cheapskate. But it's true. Bring your own cups or shnorr from the bar.
- If it gets too noisy at the lounge, either move to the business center or one of the other hotels within walking distance.
- If you don't mind sitting along a corridor (definitely quieter than the lounge) there are armchairs with cocktail tables near the meeting rooms. Walk down the long hallway to your left just as you walk in and turn left at the end. Then take the next right.
- There is an indoor ramp connecting the Hilton to the Hampton Inn next door at the end of the above mentioned corridor. (There's a door on the Hampton side that may be closed at times. Were it to close all the way you would need a card to get in but even the time I saw the door closed it would stop right before the lock would click. It's usually wide open.)
- Within two minutes walking distance of the Hampton Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, Radisson or Crowne Plaza (listed closest-farthest).
- The tables in the lobby area are reserved for the restaurant now, leaving just the 8 (often occupied) armchairs opposite the receptionists desk. There's also a couch and 2 seats in the middle of the restaurant area.
