Description

Private art museum in downtown Baltimore--FREE and open to the public. Take advantage of the Sunday hours, the late Thursday evening hours ('til 9pm!), and the complimentary wheelchairs. Walking and talking makes the first date less demanding than staring at each other over lounge drinks.

A well-lit, climate controlled, attractive and respectable place that doesn't shove mediocre, over-priced kosher food at you? Sign you up! Don't overlook the above benefits of this Thursday night Gan Eden. Just try to overlook the less modest works. Did I mention it's free?

Tips

  • Like all secular art museums, not for the uber-yeshivish--there are bound to be some naked Christians on the walls.
  • Parking can be reserved in advance through the museum website, for a fee. Museum parking lot is $1 for the first hour. $12 for the whole day. There are other parking sites nearby, including meters and sidewalks. Kidding about sidewalks. Unless you really need to get out of the second date.
  • Have fun. Don't worry about how serious the art is--you're there to enjoy each other.
  • Bring a couple sketch pads (you're allowed) and release your inner creator: have an art contest amongst yourselves, play tic-tac-toe, make lists of your favorite baby names and registry gifts, or actually sketch some of the artwork there.
  • Use it as an entire evening's first date, or pair it with a stop at Van Gough's (or a more daring watering hole) and you're well on your way to memorability.
  • Remember that you paid zip for this, so don't feel like you need to stick around to get your money's worth. Spend as much or as little time there as you like!
  • No big backpacks or food. Do the picnic before hand at Clyburn Arboretum.

Hours Subject to change. Always verify.

Wednesday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Thursdays 10 a.m.–9 p.m.
